Olivia fished the key for the Kid’s Club out of her pocket. She put the key in the lock and turned it, but the door wouldn’t open. She put her key in the lock again and turned it the other way.

The door opened.

Irena knelt on the floor, rummaging through the closet. When Olivia stepped into the room, Irena jumped away from the closet.

“Hey.” Olivia waved. “How are you this morning?”

“I didn’t hear you come in.” Irena put her hand on her chest. “I was just putting some toys away that I found when I was cleaning.”

“Thanks! I’m sorry I didn’t get them all last night. I must have missed them.”

“It is not a problem.” Irena closed the closet door, grabbed the handle of the vacuum and her bucket of cleaning supplies and carried them into the hallway.

Olivia pulled out a fresh sign-in sheet and taped it to the edge of the desk. She reached in her pocket and pulled out the schedule for the day.

Arts and crafts, games, free play, and then a tour of the Bridge.

At least there wasn’t any cake. Olivia touched her face. Her mouth was still tender, but thankfully, the swelling was much better this morning and she’d been able to cover the bruise with makeup.

“Oh good! You’re open already. I have an appointment at the Spa in ten minutes.” Jimmy’s mother shoved him into the room, quickly signed him in, and raced out the door.

“Would you like to play with blocks this morning?”

Jimmy nodded and raced over to the block bin. He pulled it off the shelf, dumping them all over the floor.

Olivia took a sip of tea out of her travel mug.

Rachel pushed the gate open. “Oh! It’s you. I thought Irena was still here.”

“She left just after I got here.”

“Oh, I was only gone five minutes. I thought cleaning the bathrooms would take more time. Jimmy is here already, huh? I thought I had at least ten more minutes.” She set a stack of construction paper down on the desk.

“His mom has an appointment at the Spa. She signed him in and was out the door before I had a chance to tell her we weren’t open yet.”

Rachel shook her head. “I got some construction paper from Nigel in the Cruise Staff Office. We were totally out of blue and pretty low on some other colors.”

“How’s Nigel?”

Rachel grinned. “He’s awesome. I haven’t seen him much this cruise, so it was nice to pop in and steal a kiss or two.”

“And some construction paper.”

“Yeah, that too!” She shrugged. “I mean, we did need construction paper.”

Olivia picked up the stack of construction paper and carried it to the closet. She opened the door.

The arm of the pirate shirt and the wig hung out the side of the chest. Olivia lifted the lid and tucked them back in.

“Did one of the kids get in the closet?”

“Not that I know of, why?”

“I put the pirate costume away yesterday after I got changed, but it was hanging out of the chest.
